The Story of MERCATINI Mercatini was founded by directors Lis Burt and Frans Huysmans and based on their fascination, passion and extensive experience of Italian culture. Having developed and sold Eurovillas and Tours, a business specializing in Villa and Farmhouse stays in Tuscany and Provence, both were looking for an opportunity to continue their association with Italy as well as capitalize on their extensive Italian contacts. ‘Instead of sending people to Tuscany for an authentic Italian experience we decided why not bring to New Zealand the very things that made our time over there so memorable!” The rest as they say is history and Mercatini was born with the single intention of providing furniture for New Zealand homes featured in the Villas, Farmhouses and Castles stayed in by Kiwis while holidaying in quintessential Italy.
