The Story of MERCATINI
Mercatini was founded by directors Lis Burt and Frans Huysmans and based on their fascination, passion and extensive experience of Italian culture.
Having developed and sold Eurovillas and Tours, a business specializing in Villa and Farmhouse stays in Tuscany and Provence, both were looking for an opportunity to continue their association with Italy as well as capitalize on their extensive Italian contacts.
‘Instead of sending people to Tuscany for an authentic Italian experience we decided why not bring to New Zealand the very things that made our time over there so memorable!”
The rest as they say is history and Mercatini was born with the single intention of providing furniture for New Zealand homes featured in the Villas, Farmhouses and Castles stayed in by Kiwis while holidaying in quintessential Italy.
Mercatini is based on the premise of ‘Ambiente Classico’ or Classic Ambience, which simply put is a way of life that is timeless and embodies all the best elements and qualities the Italian lifestyle is renown for.
The entire range of traditional and contemporary furniture, in hard and soft furnishings, reflect elegant design, superb materials, impeccable attention to detail and authentic Italian flair and sophistication. Each piece is a statement of Italian heritage, the origins of some designs going back into antiquity, and exquisite workmanship reflected in the every intricate detail and classical form.
Whether an ultra modern or classically inspired setting Mercatini's furniture effortlessly transcends both traditional and contemporary boundaries, creating flair, individuality and personality for all interior décor.
“We hope our passion for Italy comes through the beautiful Italian furniture in our showrooms, and gives a small sense of what Italy means to us and our desire to bring to New Zealand furniture that we love and hope our customers will enjoy.”
GRAZIE. A PRESTO.
